My Dear Husband won a satin handbag filled with M&S smelly stuff at the cub scouts family evening raffle – though it was an insult to his masculinity to have to go up and collect it.
I won a hamper filled with M&S food at the school Christmas fair ( I [...]

Am I a garden blogger? A lazy blogger certainly. Once again I forgot about the blooms day thing, I’ve only actually remembered once!
Two days late.
I have a hebe which started flowering just last week. maybe it knows I’m going to give it away and is pleading for mercy! As always, being a bad gardener, I planted [...]

I look around other blogs and see what people are doing and I think “me too” ( and maybe it will make my piffle seem better. So I tried this a wee while ago but I’m not really able to do this Wordless Wednesday thing, a lot of the time I forget it’s Wednesday as I stumble [...]

You wait 5 years for your day lily to flower…
At least five years ago I bought this plant as a Hemerocallis. It didn’t flower.
I dug it up and brought it with me when we moved house. For two years it still didn’t flower.
I split it and replanted a bit in a different place.
It’s flowered!
It’s a [...]

It has come to my attention that they’ve announced the new presenter for Gardener’s World. Well I’m sure this chappie is a nice bloke but he’s not Chris ‘whoar’ Beardshaw, Sven ‘phwoar’ Wombwell or even Matt ‘just good friends’ James. I guess I’ll grow to like him as he is into recycling and all that [...]

Quick update on the marmande experience: Deee lishious!
That is easily the best tasting beafsteak tomato I have ever tasted. The flesh is quite solid with not much juice, so quite meaty as it were and with a slight tang like a ‘gardener’s delight’.
I will certainly grow this again. My plants are in the conservatory getting [...]
