Garden bloggers bloom day Nov 2008

Am I a garden blogger?  A lazy blogger certainly. Once again I forgot about the blooms day thing, I’ve only actually remembered once!

Two days late.

I have a hebe which started flowering just last week. maybe it knows I’m going to give it away and is pleading for mercy! As always, being a bad gardener, I planted a lot of things far too close together and I’m going to have to shift a few plants. This hebe is shading my strawberry patch and is starting to swamp a lovely acer which flowers at Christmastime. There are also a couple hellebores which are enjoying this spot and they’re getting pretty big too but I’ll leave them for a bit and see what happens. Although this hebe is lovely and the bees adore it, it’s got to go as I don’t really have anywhere else for it to go.( I’m also planning a major overhaul of the front garden so I might have a lot more stuff with no home)

Speaking of the front, I’ve got something flowering there but I can’t remember what it is – It’s a black leaved plant very similar looking to mt black sambucus but it’s producing tallish spikes of pinky flowers. I will have to search through my RHS Big Book of Plants.
