I’m back from Lapland and exhausted after 15 hours and 3 plane journeys and my bags are missing but so what – I’ve been to the arctic circle! It was sooooooo great.
This is a pic I took while on a husky sled (obviously) and I have to say that wasn’t great – I was pretty terrified, charging along at who knows -20 mph?, and you really have no control and just have to hope they follow the dogs in front. I’m only slightly a control freak in that I like to be able to stop and start a vehicle and steer it, especially when my backside is only an inch from the ground and the track is covered in dog poo! (I wasn’t prepared for the pong!!) Everyone else loved the dog sledding tho’.
That aside everything else was so great, especially the huge piles of snow everywhere, cross counrtry skiers gliding past you, a caravan park where people were happily sitting in their awnings at -9 degrees and the cars and buses driving along thick hard packed icy snow covered roads (they have metal studs in their tyres).

jane, it looks absolutely great!!! ooh how exciting glad you had a fab time! snow is forecast for us on friday ,so might need to keep your winter woolies out!
I recently spent 5 days dog sledding in Lapland and absolutely loved it! The serene beauty of the vast snowy wilderness is breathtaking. I have to agree though, the smell of the dog poo was a bit off putting at times. So was handling the karabiners they’d managed to get covered in it
